OneBlackShirt ™

Caring for your OneBlackShirt

Merino by its very nature is odour resistant. So, unlike a cotton shirt, which absorbs your bodily odours and needs washing after 1 or 2 wears, OneBlackShirt can be worn several times over without any sign of unpleasant smells building up.

When the time does come though, one of the best things about the innovative fabric of the OneBlackShirt, is that it’s machine washable. The fine micro spun fibres not only help achieve the silken light-weight texture that is a pleasure to wear, they make OneBlackShirt easy care.

A OneBlackShirt will air dry on a coat-hanger relatively quickly.

Ironing is a breeze. In fact a OneBlackShirt barely needs ironing. It has the smoothness of a cotton shirt yet requires half the work to get a wrinkle free finish.

For best results, wash with darks on "wool” or "gentle” cycle. Use a wool specific detergent, and delicate tumble dry. Hot steam iron. Your OneBlackShirt, may also be dry-cleaned.

Note: no chemical shrink-resist treatments have been used in this fabric: it is therefore friendlier to the environment.

Merino – Nature’s super fibre

What makes Merino so special?

Merino is not like other wools. Its fibres are finer and it has a range of superior natural qualities.

Warm in Winter – Merino fibres are crimped or wavy. This structure has many tiny air pockets that act as insulation to hold in your body heat.

Cool in Summer – Merino wool’s natural breathability wicks away moisture generated by your body and allows the vapour to escape quickly, keeping you cool and dry.

Anti-odour – When we perspire, it is the bacteria which become harboured in our clothes and result in unpleasant odours. The unique fibre structure of Merino makes it difficult for bacteria to gain a hold, maintaining a consistently fresh shirt.

The fabric – a New Zealand innovation

When most people think of a merino garment, they imagine active wear, knitted skin tight items designed to wear outdoors.
OneBlackShirt is unique because it looks to all intents and purposes like a finely woven black shirt. People will notice it drapes beautifully and if they get close enough, will tell you it feels different, but they won’t believe it’s made from 100% merino wool.

The difference is that OneBlackShirt fabric is woven, not knitted. Until now, woven wool was thick, rough and itchy. The innovative new spinning technology used in making the OneBlackShirt, creates a superfine micro yarn that is then woven into a sheer lightweight fabric.
